  1. ANSI/TIA-1152-A

ANSI/TIA-1152-A defines measurement accuracy as the difference between the measured value and the actual value of a parameter.

  2. ANSI/TIA-526-14-D

Clause 3.1.7 of ANSI/TIA-526-14-D (2023) defines encircled flux as the share of the total near-field output power that lies within a given radius of the optical center of the core.

  3. ANSI/TIA-526-7-A

Clause 3.1.2 of ANSI/TIA-526-7-A (2015) treats attenuation and loss as the same quantity: the drop in optical power across the cabling under test, given as a positive decibel figure derived from the ratio of input to output power.

  4. ANSI/TIA-568.0-E

In ANSI/TIA-568.0-E, Cabling Subsystem 1 is the cabling that connects an equipment outlet to Distributor A, Distributor B or Distributor C; equipment cords are not part of any cabling subsystem.

  5. ANSI/TIA-568.1-E

Clause 3.2 of ANSI/TIA-568.1-E (2020) describes a channel as the complete transmission path between the two points where application equipment is connected, so it includes the cords that a permanent link leaves out.

  6. ANSI/TIA-568.2-E

ANSI/TIA-568.2-E defines the Category 8 direct attach channel as a shortened channel with a plug at each end and no connecting hardware between them, and gives it its own set of requirements in clause 6.5.

  7. ANSI/TIA-568.3-E

Clause 5.2.2.4 of ANSI/TIA-568.3-E (2022) distinguishes a Type-A array adapter, which mates plugs key-up to key-down, from a Type-B array adapter, which mates them key-up to key-up, and requires the two types to be distinguishable.

  8. ANSI/TIA-568.4-E

ANSI/TIA-568.4-E (2022) treats horizontal cabling as Cabling Subsystem 1, the run from the equipment outlet to the serving distributor, and backbone cabling as the subsystems that join distributors to one another.

  9. ANSI/TIA-568.5-1

In the topology clauses of ANSI/TIA-568.5 (2022), the word connector means a mated connection rather than a single plug or jack.

  10. ANSI/TIA-569-E

ANSI/TIA-569-E (2019) defines a cable bundle as a group of cables that are tied together or touching over a minimum length stated in the definition.

  11. ANSI/TIA-570-E

Clause 3.2 of ANSI/TIA-570-E (2024) defines the auxiliary disconnect outlet as a device, normally inside the dwelling unit, that lets the access provider service be connected or disconnected, with the ADO cable linking it to the distribution device or demarcation point.

  12. ANSI/TIA-598-D-1

Clause 3.3 of ANSI/TIA-598-D (2014) treats a group as a collection of units, such as a tube holding ribbons or a ribbon assembled from sub-ribbons, and makes group identification optional.

  13. ANSI/TIA-606-D

Under clause 4.2.1 of ANSI/TIA-606-D (2021), class 1 covers a premises served by a single equipment room, with no telecommunications rooms, backbone cabling or outside plant to administer.

  14. ANSI/TIA-758-B

ANSI/TIA-758-B (2012) describes a splice closure as the housing together with its bonding hardware and sealing materials, which must restore the electrical and mechanical integrity of the cable sheath.
